Premier Aquatics J-1 Visa Program

The J-1 Visa Program offers international students a unique opportunity to work as lifeguards in Orange County, California, while immersing themselves in American culture. Participants gain hands-on experience, develop professional skills, and explore life in the U.S. This program combines work, training, and adventure, giving students an unforgettable summer and a chance to grow both personally and professionally.

Program Highlights

Position

OC Lifeguard with Premier Aquatics

Compensation

$17/hour (up to 40 hours/week); $25.50/hour overtime

Payment

Bi-weekly via direct deposit or check

Uniform

Provided (includes t-shirts, shorts, lanyard, whistle, fanny pack)

Training

StarGuard Lifeguard course (online and in-person)

Eligibility

Must qualify for a J-1 Visa & possess intermediate English proficiency

Arriving in the U.S.

During your stay, you'll have 30 days before and after your program to travel within the U.S.; however, you cannot work or study during this period.

Recommended Airports

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) or John Wayne Airport (SNA).

Ensure you have valid U.S. coverage

Banking

Open a U.S. bank account for direct deposit .

Cell Service

Consider obtaining a U.S. SIM card

I-9 Form

Complete employment verification with required documents

Social Security Number

Apply early; processing may take 2–4 weeks

Living in the U.S.

Housing

Arranged independently; resources include VRBO, Airbnb, Zillow, host families, and student housing.

Transportation

Options include rideshare apps, public transit, biking, or walking.

Work Environment

Outdoor pools requiring focus, hydration, and sun protection; appropriate footwear is essential.
