Premier Aquatic Services Teams Up With The Safer 3 Water Safety Foundation
Drowning remains the leading cause of death for children ages 1–4 in both Orange County and throughout California. It is also among the top five causes of death for children under 17, according to data from the Orange County Health Care Agency.

A Preventable Tragedy

Approximately 64% of drowning incidents occur in pools or spas. The most heartbreaking part is that drowning is entirely preventable with proper awareness, supervision, and safety education.

Partnering for Prevention

To combat this ongoing issue, Premier Aquatic Services has partnered with the Safer 3 Water Safety Foundation, a nonprofit committed to reducing drowning incidents through water safety education and community outreach.

he Safer 3 Approach

Safer 3 focuses on the three elements present in every drowning situation: water, people, and response. Their curriculum is designed to address each element through the following components:

Safer Water

Teaches participants how to identify risks associated with different bodies of water and how to take preventive measures to reduce those risks.

Safer Kids

Provides guidance for children and parents on safe behavior around water, emphasizing constant adult supervision and clear water safety rules.

Safer Response

Covers emergency response techniques, highlighting the importance of parents learning CPR, AED use, and basic first aid.

Safer 3 has also created school-based programs to teach children essential water safety skills.

Community Outreach and Annual Events

Each spring, Safer 3 hosts events at swim schools nationwide to increase awareness about drowning prevention and promote safer behaviors around water.

Orange County Drowning Prevention Task Force Meeting

To continue raising awareness, Premier Aquatic Services, the Safer 3 Water Safety Foundation, and the Orange County Fire Authority are hosting the first-ever Orange County Drowning Prevention Task Force meeting.

Event Details:

  • Date: Thursday, March 19
  • Time: 5:30 p.m.
  • Location: Aliso Viejo Aquatic Center

During the meeting, participants will learn how to reduce drowning risks and keep their families safe around water.

Let’s Work Together to Prevent Drowning
